Biking

Join us for a 8 km guided bike adventure on the Trans Canada Trail to Old Pinawa Dam. Check out the single-track trail that winds it way through boreal forest and along the Pinawa Channel. On the ride take in the colours of Mother Natures canvas and hear the roar of the rapids at Shorty's.  Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic rock outcrop overlooking the channel.  End the ride at historic Old Pinawa Dam provincial park. ($60 per person with bike & helmut - includes a simple lunch )

Hiking

Join us for a 3.5 km or 7 km guided hiking adventure on The Great Tail from the diversion dam to the suspension bridge.  Follow the trail as it winds it's way through the boreal forest and across granite outcrops.  Take in views of the beautiful Pinawa Channel.  Walk across the suspension bridge.  Enjoy a leisurely lunch along side the Pinawa Channel at our secluded outfitters tent.  After lunch you will have the option to hike back to the diversion dam (7 km total) or instead of hiking get a ride back to the diversion dam. ($20 per person - book in advance )

Guided Tours

Our guides will teach you about how to stay safe in regards to weather, wildlife, your abilities, basic navigation, and what to do in an emergency. This is a fantastic opportunity to ask questions and learn from experienced outdoor leaders.  Includes Canoe Lesson, Pine Point Rapids Hike, Nutimik Lake, Bannock Point Petroforms, Old Pinawa Dam ($99 per person - Booking in advance )

Golfing

Pinawa Golf & Country Club Course is an 18 hole, par 72 course set in deep boreal forests. The back nine play towards the river, providing stunning views of Winnipeg River System. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced golfer, the Pinawa Golf and Country Club Course provides a perfect backdrop for your next golf adventure.

Campfire

Use one of our 6 campfire spots in the evening on our 11 acres overlooking the Winnipeg River. (Free - Just book in advance )

Canoe Rentals

Canoe rentals are geared towards those with existing experience in the safe use of canoes and understand water safety.  Water conditions are slow-moving with swift sections.  If you choose to take the Pinawa Channel route there are two portages and you will require selecting the Old Pinawa Dam for 5 pm transport option when making your booking. You are required to lift your canoe off its docking station and put it into the water.  If you are not familiar with the safe operation of a canoe, we strongly recommend booking our Day Adventure, rafting or tubing options instead.

Tubing/Rafting Rentals

There’s a reason why thousands of people flock towards Pinawa during the summer months.  The ultimate spot for all of your tubing, canoe and rafting adventures.  Wilderness Edge offers excursion opportunity to anyone who dares to take on the channel.  Located just one hour away from Winnipeg, we provide tubing and rafting adventures with equipment rentals, all at a fair price. You can also power pack the experience with one of our complete day trips, overnight or weekend packages.  120 tubes and 12 rafts per run.  Rentals are $8.85 per person plus taxes - book in advance, we often sell out!

Join us for an evening kayak on the Winnipeg River. Paddle past century old granite that was blasted to create the Pinawa Channel.  Catch glimpses of Mother Nature's creatures on land and in the sky.  Watch the sun set from a scenic spot on the Winnipeg River.  ($40 per person  - must book in advance)

Pinawa Beach is located on the northern end of Whiteshell Provincial Park along the Winnipeg River and is equipped with a play structure, picnic shelter, volleyball court, and diving dock.

Swinging Bridge

Pinawa’s Suspension Bridge allows visitors and local residents a greater opportunity to discover and appreciate the natural beauty of the Pinawa district on this branch of the Trans Canada Trail. Located off the Alice Chambers Trail, it is 54 metres long and 1 metre wide. Crossing the Pinawa Channel north of the Pinawa Cemetery, the bridge is part of a loop for interpretive walks, casual fishing, and cross-country skiing. The Pinawa Channel Heritage Walk on the north side of the channel is accessed either by the suspension bridge or the diversion dam at the end of PR 211.

Old Pinawa Dam

This place is beautiful. It's an old hydro dam that's been decommissioned for decades and has been made as a great self-guided walking tour of the oldest hydro dam in Manitoba.

Around the damn are some smooth cascades that can be used as water slides. Life vest recommended, although lots of locals don't use them. Great place for a picnic, a swim and a walk. Parking fees for those without provincial passes.

Cross-country Skiing

Pinawa has about 40 km of trails including a 7.5-km trail for skiing technique. There is a 7 km loop rated easy while all the rest are intermediate to difficult. The trails are the site of the Manitoba Loppet and the 50 km Super Loppet in late January. A 26 km section of the Trans Canada Trail from Pinawa Dam to Seven Sisters Falls is also maintained for skiing.

Indoor and Outdoor Ice Arena

Located just 1 block from Wilderness Edge. Outdoor Arena is Free. Indoor Arena call for costs.

Curling

Enjoy the fun of your groups own private curling rink. Located just 3 blocks from Pinawa you can rent up to 6 lanes. The cost is $25 per hour, per lane.

Ice Fishing

We hope you include this as part of your stay with us in late February and March. Wilderness Edge has a gas motor ice auger and plenty of places to fish including a few favorites. The Esso station beside us keeps stock on frozen minnows and fishing licenses.

Snowshoeing

Bring the kids and experience the fun of snowshoeing while taking in the beauty of the boreal forest on this fun filled family adventure. The kids will turn into winter explorers as we look for animal tracks in the snow. The tour will venture off trail to our secluded outfitters tent where you can warm up while enjoying a hot beverage before we return to the trailhead.
